Henry and Rosannah seem a little bit mad at first, until you begin to realize they’ve each lost a bit of their humanity given their respective isolation. We learn how each of them is coping with tragedy (that’s not to suggest they’re coping well) and the story as it unfolds isn’t always polite or pretty to look at, though it is fascinating. Henry’s a cook on an oil rig some 400 miles away from his home. His commute is explained by the fact that he works seven-week stretches followed by two weeks off.
