Sometimes, I will get busy cutting and measuring and then start to fit it together to check how it's going to fit in place and catch myself about to slide it on before I deburred it.
If you made the mistake like I did once and used the wrong clamp jaw on the propress, don't worry you can still re clamp it and it won't leak. We have used this for over a year and so far we haven't had any fittings leak. I will say this before I'm done, but it is possible to pull a pressed fitting out. A guy made some pressed joints but the measurement was off a little so I decided to pull and tug around to give us that extra inch or so. Ended up with a leak there and we had to redo that whole section anyways. I pulled the elbow out.
Just a caution for those looking at the used ProPress tool market. I found out that the Viega ProPress tool has an internal counter, and it goes to about 30k actuations. The tool will beep at every press for the last 1000 actuations. There is no way for the end user to determine the total number of presses.

Once the last 1k actuations is used up, the tool will no longer function. At this point, it needs to be sent in for calibration. Calibration was estimated at $300, but an exact figure was not quoted. May be more if repairs are needed.
30,000 actuations sounds like a lot, but it amounts to 100 presses a day for 300 days. 50 pipe joints (elbows, couplings and the like). So, that used 1 to 2 year old ProPress could need calibration soon if it was being used a lot.
This kinda dampened my enthusiasm for getting a used one, unless the price was really good. This info comes from a Viega rep that was at the AHR Expo.
